Joel Griffiths

Thanks to Joel Griffiths for joining us online inside the clubhouse studio. We had a look at Joel's playing career and his transition to coaching.

Joel had some great stories to tell while he travelled the globe playing this beautiful game especially around games against Lionel Andrés Messi and playing with Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba.

Find out who Joel would like to invite to dinner and who he thinks is the team clown, which did not surprise me.

Payton Tag

This week we were joined by Payton Tag a second generation club man who is also the coach of the U18 NPL side.

It was great to get an insight into Payton's coaching philosophy and his football journey. With the surname of Tagaroulias, Olympic was always going to be a big part of his life.

Jason Hoffman

Thank you to Jason for taking an hour out of his day to talk with us in the clubhouse studio. Jason had a extraordinary junior career with Olympic and progressed quickly through the senior ranks.

Jason has gone on to have a career in the game as a professional baller and credits his success to his early days at Newcastle Olympic and a strong work ethic.

Jason was the 10th youngest player to play first grade.

Jason was the 15th player to score on his 1st Grade debut.

Jason was 1st player for Olympic to score in his first two games for the club.

Paul DeVitis

We have been waiting for the lockdown to finish and I am glad we did as Paul is now the new WPL coach for 2022. Congratulations Paul...

Paul DeVitis is one of the "next generation" club men that has spent his entire life in and around the club. Paul has a great story so sit back grab a cuppa and spend an hour with Paul.

Due to a snap lockdown we could not get Kyle into the studio so we beamed him in over the internet. The audio was a little glitchy but his good looks and sharp wit got him through. We also included a few profile questions from the Clubhouse.

This week is another special episode of The Legacy with a relaxed chat in the grandstand at Darling Street.

Thanks to Matt & Trent Austin for coming down on a cool training night to have chat about their time with Olympic and the golden period where they won 6 Grand Finals. 

Matt played 317 games in defence and Trent scored the winning goal in the 2007 Grand Final win but there is much more to their time in blue and white.
